Nursery (Ages 6 weeks to 12 months)
At Grace Nursery, we strive to focus on physical development in the form of gross motor skills to help them succeed as they progress into older classes. We have 3 classes ranging from infants, crawlers, and walkers before advancing into our one-year-old room. State ratio is 6 teachers to one infant so all classes have no more than 6 babies per teacher at any given time.
One Year Old Class (12 months to 24 months)
Once a child is in the one-year-old room, our teachers will begin focusing on language/cognitive, fine motor, social, and emotional development for the child. We will introduce self-feeding and independent play so that the child is well prepared for the two-year-old class at Yellow House or Pre-K 2 at Grace Day School. Our ratio is 8:1.
Two-Year-Old Class (24 months until the end of the school Year)
In the two-year-old class, we start focusing on large and small group play. In this class we like to incorporate creative arts, sensory, music, and outdoor learning in addition to the foundational skills we’ve taught in classes before. Our ratio is 12:1.
PreK 3: Must be 3 years of age by September 30 and fully potty trained.
A hallmark of the 3-year-old program includes learning to participate and contribute to group activities as well as practicing small and large motor skills. Development of social skills, including conflict resolution, continues to be emphasized. They will continue to explore through hands-on experiences and utilization of the five senses. Children are encouraged to become independent and self-reliant as they make choices and decisions throughout their day.
